Brief History

Welcome to Laundry Cottage [Kilberry Castle Cottage] on the Kilberry Estate in Argyll.

Kilberry Castle has been home to the Campbell family for over four hundred years and the present occupants have been here since 1992.

The Kilberry Estate was originally 12,000 acres but by the 1950s all that remained was fifteen acres surrounding the Castle.

Laundry Cottage was originally the two-storey laundry building for the Castle during the Victorian era.

The house was renovated during 1990 and became the home of Marion Campbell, local historian and author, some of whose books are in the dining room.

Guest Information

We have left visitor information in the dining room but we would be more than happy to help you with suggestions of things to see and do and help to arrange activities.

A few points to mention about the house: – the switch for the hot water is to the right of the sink in the kitchen, and the fire place in the sitting room has a back boiler which also heats the water.

All of the rooms have electric panel heaters. The switch for the bathroom towel rail is in the bathroom cupboard.

If you run out of wood, there is more in the garage with the ash bucket. The dustbin is in the garage and we will dispose of it after you have left.

We have strimmed a path through the wood, which will lead you towards the shore; we will point you in the right direction.

If there is anything we can help you with during your stay – need more firewood, need to borrow a bicycle pump, forgot to buy any onions? – please do come and ask!

Enjoy Your Stay

We hope you have a very enjoyable holiday in our cottage. John Campbell and Family.
